IPMVP Training – Measurement & Verification (M&V)

Factor4 is organizing a hands‑on training on IPMVP – the international standard for measuring and proving energy savings accurately. IPMVP is managed by EVO, an independent non‑profit that oversees Measurement & Verification rules worldwide. Governments, utilities, ESCOs and financial institutions rely on this method to assess efficiency projects in a consistent and trustworthy way.

Many organizations promise energy savings, but today they want hard numbers before investing. Think of EPC contracts, ISO 50001 trajectories or financing files. In this training, you learn how to demonstrate results objectively, systematically and according to a globally recognized standard.

Anyone who masters IPMVP can objectively evaluate energy and water projects, assess investor risks and provide stronger, evidence‑based advice to clients. That’s why this training is highly valued by ESCOs, utilities, policymakers and facility and building managers.

What will you learn?

After completing this training, you will be able to:

• Quantify energy savings accurately and report them correctly

• Apply M&V to both energy and water projects

• Work confidently with the four EPMVP options (A, B, C and D)

• Develop a complete, well-substantiated M&V plan

• Provide professional, evidence-based advice to companies, governments and investors.

Program overview

The training consists of three in‑person days, followed by an online exam:

• Day 1: Fundamentals and M&V plan: introduction to M&V and its applications (EPC, ISO 50001), core concepts, IPMVP methodology, practical cases and building an M&V plan.

• Day 2: Analysis and Calculations: key M&V challenges (data, uncertainty, verification), baseline adjustments, energy valuation and essential statistics.

• Day 3: Application and Completion Implementing the IPMVP options, additional applications such as monitoring and recommissioning, and selecting the right method.

• Day 4: Certification exam: online, Online, 4 hours, to be completed within 4 weeks after the training.

A preparatory online statistics module is also included.

If you pass the exam, you earn the PMVA certification (Performance Measurement & Verification Analyst), issued by EVO. This certification is recognized worldwide as the reference for professionals applying M&V and IPMVP concepts in energy‑efficiency projects, and is acknowledged by ESCOs, governments, utilities and financial institutions.
